Position Objectives

 

Under direct supervision, assist Water System Operator with technical services such as maintaining distribution/service lines and meter services for the water system. Reports directly to Public Services Manager.


Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with checking chlorine levels at water flushers and log on appropriate forms.

  • Assist with daily reading of Master Meter (M-F) and log on appropriate form.

  • Assist with exercising all valves annually and log on appropriate form.

  • Assist with exercising / flowing all fire hydrants annually and log on appropriate form.

  • Assist with keeping all fire hydrants clean, painted, and clear of obstructions.

  • Assist with keeping all flushers clean and clear of obstructions.

  • Assist with mowing / weed eating all flushers and fire hydrants as needed. 

  • Assist with installing, changing, locking out or turning on meters as directed.

  • Assist with locating and marking water lines as instructed by 811.

  • Available 24/7 for emergency call in due to water line breaks / disruptions.

  • Performs various safety operations as needed with Nebo Water operations and installations.

  • Performs various operations and inspections related to Fire Sprinklers and riser operations at the Universal Complex.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED 

Valid North Carolina driver's license. 

Flagger Certification 

Opportunity to obtain Distribution Certification from NCWTFOCB (North Carolina Water Treatment Facility Operators Certification Board) (Ability to obtain within first 2 years of employment)
