Position Objectives

 

The senior center is seeking job applicants for a part-time (up to 19 hours per week) position in food
service operations at the McDowell Senior Center. Employee will assist higher level personnel with the
daily operations of the home-delivered meal program and is also involved in the cleaning activities
which facilitate good sanitation and food service. Work is performed under supervision by a higher-level
food service employee and is reviewed regularly for successful completion of assignments.


Duties & Responsibilities

Peels, washes, and cleans vegetables for kitchen use; prepares salads, slices pies, and performs similar
tasks as assigned. Carries canned and fresh fruits, meats, and vegetables from the storeroom to the
kitchen; transports breads, rolls, desserts, and other items to specified areas; transfers food items from
cooking utensils to steam carts; and delivers cooked food to serving areas. Prepares and cooks meats,
vegetables and other food items using commercial kitchen equipment. Takes temperatures on prepared
food items to ensure food safety. Scrubs, scours, and washes cooking utensils and pans; cleans and
mops kitchen; and cleans and organizes food storage areas.
Employee will ensure standards of sanitation and food safety are maintained.
This position is 19 hours per week primarily working between the hours of 8:30am-12:30pm Monday-
Thursday and 8:30-11:30 on Fridays.

Minimum Requirements

None, training for different areas will be provided though department

Desirable Training and Experience

Prefer job candidates with at least 6 months experience in food service or related field.
