Position Objectives

 

Under direct supervision, provides technical services, maintains distribution/service lines and meter services for the water system. Reports directly to Public Services Manager.


Duties & Responsibilities

​

  • Collects water samples for water system and Woodlawn Roadside Park as required by DEQ (Department Environmental Quality) and deliver to State approved lab for analysis with appropriate forms.

  • Monthly reading of water meters.

  • Check chlorine levels at water flushers as required and log on appropriate forms.

  • Daily reading of Master Meter (M-F) and log on appropriate form.

  • Exercising all valves annually and log on appropriate form.

  • Exercise / flow all fire hydrants annually and log on appropriate form.

  • Keep all fire hydrants clean, painted, and clear of obstructions.

  • Keep all flushers clean and clear of obstructions.

  • Mow / weed eat all flushers and fire hydrants as needed. 

  • Install, change, lock out or turn on meters as directed.

  • Locate and mark water lines as instructed by 811.

  • Available 24/7 for emergency call in due to water line breaks / disruptions.

  • Performs various safety operations as needed with Nebo Water operations and installations.

  • Performs various operations and inspections related to Fire Sprinklers and riser operations at the Universal Complex.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

​

High School Diploma or GED 

Valid North Carolina driver's license. 

​

Ability to obtain Flagger Certification

​

Within a two-year period of accepting this position, the operator will obtain and maintain a C-Distribution Certification from NCWTFOCB (North Carolina Water Treatment Facility Operators Certification Board). 

​

Within a four-year period of accepting this position, the operator will obtain a B-Distribution Certification from NCWTFOCB (North Carolina Water Treatment Facility Operators Certification Board).
