Position Objectives
Under general supervision, performs supervisory and administrative work in scheduling and coordinating the daily operations of a transfer station. Work involves coordinating transfer station operations, ensuring compliance with relevant local and state regulations, and supervising assigned employees including community service workers. Reports to the Public Works Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervising

Supervises up to six employees

Responds to public complaints
-
Responsible for scheduling and submitting time sheets to Public Services Manager.

Must be able to supervise at least two (2-3) Department of Correction Inmates.

Responsible for the transfer station, scale house, brush, pallet and metal staging areas.

Follows McDowell County ordinance, State and Federal guidelines for transfer station waste collection
Equipment Operation

Operates and drives heavy trucks, front end loaders, backhoes, dozers, forklifts, and other equipment as assigned

Oversees equipment operation and ensures that equipment is being operated in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life.

Performs daily safety checks

Performs operator maintenance of equipment

Valid North Carolina driver’s license
