Duties & Responsibilities

This position is assigned to the McDowell County Parks and Recreation Department. Work hours will routinely be during the evening hours; Monday through Friday and occasional partial weekend days. Physical requirements are standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 100 pounds, walking long distances, working outside in heat and cold, and riding in vehicles.
The person in this position will serve as the primary gym/building supervisor during youth basketball, open gym, and other special functions in the gym and main building. Assisting in all aspects of sports programs including; Youth baseball, Youth Softball, Youth Basketball, Youth Football, Youth Soccer, Youth Swimming, Adult Softball and Adult Basketball. This will include but not be limited to: sign-ups, drafts, finding and screening coaches, finding and screening referees and umpires, scheduling games and venues (regular season and playoffs), working with teams to order uniforms and trophies as well as conflict resolution. This individual will also work closely with the Program Administrator to create policies and procedures for personal conduct, safety and athlete participation. This person will work with the Program Administrator and Coaches to create and facilitate "Camps" and "Clinics" for current and aspiring student athletes and coaches in McDowell County and all other duties as assigned. Other specific duties and responsibilities will be discussed with the applicant at the interview process.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must possess a valid NC driver's license and be able to operate a vehicle.
