Position Objectives

 

This position is assigned to the McDowell County Parks and Recreation Department. Work hours will routinely be during the evening hours; Monday through Friday and occasional partial weekend days. Physical requirements are standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, walking long distances, working outside in heat and cold, and riding in vehicles.

Duties & Responsibilities

​

The person in this position will serve as the primary gym/building supervisor during youth basketball, open gym, and other special functions in the gym and main building.  Overseeing all aspects of sports programs including but not limited to; Youth baseball, Youth Softball, Youth Basketball, Youth Football, Youth Soccer, Youth Swimming, Adult Softball and Adult Basketball.   In addition to managing the existing recreational offerings, this individual will be expected to work closely with the Director in fostering the departmental growth to include trails and greenways, as well as a public shooting range and a campground/day-use area on Lake James.  Other specific duties and responsibilities will be discussed with the applicant at the interview process.

Minimum Requirements

​

​Candidates must possess a valid NC driver's license and be able to operate a vehicle.
