What is the purpose of the program?

​County Connect is an employee engagement and recognition program aimed at boosting employee morale and retention by recognizing and rewarding various aspects of employee performance. By focusing on teamwork, service, initiative, innovation, and excellence, the program aims to create a positive work culture that values employee contributions to the County and fosters motivation.

Who can participate?

Full-time and Part-Time employees are eligible to participate in County Connect. Participation is not required.

How can I participate?

Employees can participate by nominating a coworker or employee for a Kudos Award or by participating in County-hosted Activities/Events/Challenges.

What do I get for participating?

Participation earns you one (1) raffle credit per event, challenge, activity, and/or Kudos Award. Your credit balances are maintained by Human Resources and at the end of the year, at the annual celebration, your name is entered into the raffle once per credit. Employees will be eligible to win a variety of monetary and non-monetary door prizes.

What is a Kudos Award?

The Kudos Award is an “at-the-moment” virtual recognition or appreciation given to individuals or teams for their exceptional performance or achievements. They serve as a way to motivate and encourage others to strive for excellence and continue to excel in their work. These awards can boost morale and create a positive work culture within an organization. These awards can be submitted by a director or employee. Kudos Award winners will receive a Raffle Credit in addition to their virtual certificate. Kudos Award winners will also be entered into a special raffle at the annual celebration.

What is the annual celebration?

​County Connect Celebration is the annual employee recognition event to be held each June and is a time for the county to say “thank you” for the dedication, initiative, knowledge and professionalism of our employees. The County will honor employees for years of service to the county, as well as recognize outstanding accomplishments in various categories. The annual raffle will also be held during this event. Employees who participated throughout the year and earned raffle credits, will be eligible to win door prizes if randomly selected. These prizes may include monetary and non-monetary items provided by McDowell County and its associated affiliates. This is an event open to all employees. Employees will be expected to register to attend prior to the event to get a count for refreshments.
